On the day: Visitors created artwork in the sand using stencils of portraits at the beach. They also painted the name of a family member or community member who lost their life or were affected by the war onto a shell. A personal thank you and goodbye shell painting session was run by local artist Jackie Dawson.
There was an informal open mic session featuring professional storyteller Mike Dodsworth. This was also a space where the public could share their chosen words. Contributions shared included existing poems, letters or pieces of writing that was created personally or with a group.
