Time: 9am – 1pm
On the day: From 9am onwards visitors created artwork in the sand using stencils of portraits at the beach. They also painted the name of a family member or community member who lost their life or were affected by the war onto a shell. A personal thank you and goodbye shell painting session was run by local artist Jackie Dawson.
Between 11.30am and 1pm there was an informal open mic session featuring professional storyteller Mike Dodsworth. This was also a space where the public could share their chosen words. Contributions shared included existing poems, letters or pieces of writing that was created personally or with a group.
